Emily C. R. Hill (b. 1987 in Vancouver, CA) lives in Vancouver, CA on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh).

Her painting, sculpture and performance practice incorporates both traditional textile dye techniques and experimental media documentation. Hill explores stains and marks, working with a vocabulary of painting that responds to gesture as a site for mixing habit and tradition. Muscles draw from memories of movements in the world formed by forces that feel like both contaminants and heirlooms.
